Overview
The aim of this programme is to equip managers with the skills to maximise staff performance and deal sensitively with poor performance. It focuses on the two areas of enhancing motivation to improve performance whilst also addressing the skills and attitude required of managers to tackle poor performance. The programme runs in line with the performance management policy for the Trust and requirements of Employment Law.
Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
* Describe the 4 key stages of Performance Management.
* Differentiate between the 4 key stages and take appropriate action at each stage.
* Use Neuro-Linguistic-Programming (NLP) to recognise different communication traits and select the most appropriate method to communicate their message.
* Investigate performance issues.
* Undertake a counselling discussion, subsequent reviews and complete the required documentation.
* State the legal requirements related to managing staff performance to include absence, stress at work, disability, bullying and equal opportunities.
* Carry out a formal disciplinary process in line with Trust policy.
* Research and prepare a management case to include taking effective witness statements.
* Describe the events which will occur in a disciplinary hearing and employment tribunal.

Any member of staff who is responsible for the performance of others.
