The apprenticeship levy, introduced by the government last year, has changed to allow employers more flexibility.
The initiative specifically focuses on training apprentices while driving a generation of highly-skilled people into the UK’s workforce by 2020.
As of the 1st of May, businesses can now transfer 10% of their annual levy funds to training providers and other employers in their supply chain to fund identified apprenticeship schemes.
Developing U’s Head of Apprenticeships is Jan Lansdell, who believes the changes promise to bring “huge potential”.
Jan said: “The initiative has been designed to encourage companies to invest into more apprentices creating a stronger and higher-skilled workforce.
“This will have huge potential to strengthen the conveyor belt of talent with specific skills aligned with a business’ needs and processes.
“This will also encourage the ties between employers in their wider supply chain, fostering collaboration and portability of skills.
“An overall positive for the industry and society will mean it should, in principle, increase the number of apprenticeship opportunities available.”
“The feedback from the first year suggests some levy investing businesses are not set up to internally train apprentices or have reached their current capacity for apprenticeship development and are turning to accredited training providers like us here at Developing U for support.”
Developing U is actively working alongside businesses looking to gain support for their own apprenticeship schemes going into 2019 and beyond.
Jan added: “We are an accredited training provider with ready to go apprenticeship programmes. We offer personalised support and work closely with organisations and get to know their needs.
“At Developing U we also provide tailored programmes. We will design apprenticeship programs directly to meet an organisation’s needs.
“We provide regular management information on progress with ongoing continual feedback to keep our clients updated and integrated into our programs.
“It is time-consuming and expensive to recruit new, motivated staff – we offer a complimentary recruitment service tailored to the business.”
“We have a proven track record of success. Within our business we have over 12 years’ of experience delivering professional programs and added to this we also work with some of the most renown brands on the planet whom expect nothing but first-class support.
“Our entire organisation is focused on anticipating our stakeholder needs and providing both learners and employers a flexible approach and professional delivery that provides the highest standards of guidance, training and practical skills.
“We have highly-qualified, experienced and motivated staff with outstanding vocational experience and strong connections to industry.”
